BenQ urge Australians to ‘see the light’ with a full line up of Full HD 16:9 LED Monitors. Twenty-seven models cover the market from 15.6”W to 24”W
2010-03-18

March, 2010 – With numerous ‘World Firsts’* to their name, BenQ can now boast that they are the only player in the visual technology market offering a full line up of LED backlit display monitors from 15.6’W to 24”W, with 27 different models in three categories – ultra slim, eco and everyday.

LED technology replaces traditional cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) and is the revolutionary way forward for display monitors and televisions offering a significant reduction in power consumption, more balanced display properties, a longer lifespan and lighter weight. In addition, LED panels are mercury free making them more readily recycled at end of life, while their manufacture does not pollute our waterways making them the clear environmental choice.

The entire range of BenQ LED backlit monitors are thinner, lighter and provide an amazing ultra-high contrast ratio upto 10,000,000:1 which equates to picture quality that is crisper and razor sharp, but most impressively, they are extremely energy efficient, using around 30% less energy than conventional CCFL displays.

When set to ‘eco mode’ a feature of BenQ Proprietary Senseye 3 technology found on all BenQ LED-backlit monitors, the monitors consume another 30% less power again, making the full power saving in excess of 60% and on some models, up to 71% is evident, which theoretically means that a household or business could more than halve the amount of energy they currently consume powering their computers.

Said General Manager for BenQ Australia, Chee F. Chung, “BenQ is undisputedly the world’s leading LED-backlit monitor brand. With more than twenty years expertise in developing display products of the highest standards, BenQ will continue to lead the market with strong competencies and market intelligence, and it is BenQ’s belief that Full HD16:9 LED monitors will quickly become the benchmark for visual enjoyment.

“LED (light-emitting diode) as a technology is not new – we’ve all been encouraged for some time by our Governments to replace fluorescent bulbs with energy efficient and long lasting LED bulbs. The LED story simply translates from general lighting to consumer electronics, where LED televisions and monitors are now on track to replace the current CCFL models, and this will equate to a significant energy savings as households upgrade and change to LED. “LED panels offer a number of benefits over conventional LCD displays,” continued Chung. “While it might take a few minutes for LCD to power up, LED is ‘instant-on’ and flicker-free. In a nutshell, you will get a clean crisp, stable picture in a sophisticated looking product which draws less energy and may actually pay for itself in energy savings within it’s lifespan, depending on how much it is used,” she said.

The G922 HDL 18.5”W LED backlit monitor, for instance, runs on 11W energy reducing power consumption by 63% when compared to a traditional, similar sized monitor which would use in excess of 30W per hour.

“Being energy efficient is the best way to reduce the household energy bill, and has a positive effect on the environment,” said Chung. “Energy is an expensive resource and we all have an obligation to be carbon conscious. If just one in every ten Australian households upgraded to a BenQ LED backlit monitor and operated it in ‘Eco’ mode for around three hours a day, not only would it represent a saving in energy and money, but it would potentially reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 280,000 tonnes annually. Households aside, LED technology is providing business with the ability to reduce running costs and minimize their carbon footprint,” said Chung.

According to the Australian Greenhouse Office, Australians are the highest per-capita greenhouse gas polluters in the world, and it is energy used in Australian households that is responsible for the biggest amount of greenhouse gas emissions.

BenQ’s full range of LED backlit monitors come equipped with the company’s revolutionary ‘Senseye 3 Technology®’ delivering true colours ensuring optimal viewing pleasure. The user can select from six pre-set viewing modes – Standard, Movie, Game, Photo, sRGB and Eco to suit their individual needs.

Reinforcing the company’s pledge to be environmentally responsible, and adding to their claim of eco-friendliness, BenQ’s V-Eco series monitors have a shell which is made from 28% recycled plastic which features no coating or printing. The natural off-white unbleached plastic finish means that in addition to zero mercury, no paint or coating chemical has been used in the manufacturing process. LED display panels are 21.2% slimmer and 14.6% lighter in weight, making shipping more efficient whilst 80% of the product’s cardboard packaging is recycled and recyclable. Soy ink marks the cardboard packaging and identifies its contents, whilst the user manual is available online further reducing the product’s impact on the environment.

BenQ’s range, incorporating 27 different models of Full HD 16:9 LED monitors range in price from $149.00 to $549.00.
